From the artist:
Figurative based narratives navigate paths of identity through self-awareness and the flux of social positioning. My work emerges as paintings, drawings, assemblage, writing, video, and installation. The intent is to create a future construct with the timber of past and present material activated with imagination. I am creating a visual path to a chosen future speaking through the microphone of creativity, the voice of Blackness as an immemorial spiritual force of divine balance. The recurring themes are recognition, reclamation, restoration, and resurrection. Much of my material is drawn from the real world, real places where things occur. The repurposing of objects and their proxy to speak to present issues is a type of social repurposing. My work more about the pathway than the product.
