Learn to make pots on the potter’s wheel! This introductory class is for adults who have not worked on the potter’s wheel before, or who want more instruction at the beginner’s level. Learn to let your hands form a bowl by slamming your prepared clay onto the wheel then start spinning. We’ll trim excess clay from the bottom of your pot after it dries, then place your piece into the kiln where it will transform from dirt to stone. Learn the basics of glazing, and after a second firing, you’ll have a shiny, durable ceramic vessel, handmade by you, and the basic skills to create more pots!
The fee for this class is for four sessions, each 1.5 hours long, meeting once per week. A 25-pound bag of clay can be purchased in our studio on the first day of class for $20 (you must purchase clay at our studio, but you may reuse a bag of clay from a previous class, or share with another student in class). A $20 tool kit can be purchased in the studio on the first day of class, or bought locally/ordered online before the start of class. We also ask that you bring an apron and a towel large enough to drape across your lap.
