Learn to make pots on the potter’s wheel! Slam your prepared clay onto the wheel, start the wheel spinning, and learn to let your hands form a bowl. After your pot dries, we’ll trim excess clay from the bottom then place your pieces into the kiln, where they will turn from dirt to stone. Learn the basics of glazing, and after a second firing, you’ll have a shiny, durable ceramic vessel, handmade by you– and the skills to create more pots!
This introductory class is for adults who either have not worked on the potter’s wheel before, or who want more instruction at the beginner’s level. The class can be taken more than once to continue practicing your throwing technique; we’ll go over the basic steps each class, but your pots can grow every time! The fee for this class is for four sessions, each 1.5 hours long, meeting once per week. Clay can be purchased in our studio on the first day of class for $5. We also ask that you bring an apron and a towel large enough to drape across your lap.
