Go!: 2018 International Print Exchange
We have hosted an International Print Exchange annually since 2014, inviting printmakers of all skill levels worldwide to submit an edition of ten original, hand-pulled prints. All entries are created with traditional printmaking techniques: relief, etching, lithography, serigraphy, chine-collé, drypoint, letterpress, collagraphy, and monotype. Each participant receives an assortment of prints by other participants and a commemorative print by Green Pea Press in return. Two prints from each edition are retained by GPP: one for exhibition, to be archived as part of our permanent collection, and one for sale as a fundraiser for our collective studio.
The theme of this exchange was “Go!”
Our 2019 Annual International Print Exchange open call for entries will run from February 1 through June 30. More information is available on our website at: http://greenpeapress.com/2019-print-exchange.
Green Pea Press Printmaking Collective
Green Pea Press seeks to deepen appreciation and understanding of the printmaking arts by providing residents of the Tennessee Valley educational experiences, access to equipment, and opportunities for exhibition, collaboration and exchange.
Founded in 2011 as the first community printshop in Alabama, the Green Pea Press Printmaking Collective offers memberships to local artists and workshops in various printmaking media. Studio 122 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is our original printmaking studio, equipped for letterpress, intaglio, relief and monotype printing. Our Screen Shop is located down the street on Governors Drive, with full screen printing facilities for paper and apparel.
Members can reserve access to printing facilities, receive discounts on classes, participate in group shows and collaborations, and sell their work on consignment in The Pea Pod, our retail shop in Studio 111. We currently have over 25 members at three different membership levels, with planning meetings and Open Studio sessions held monthly. Our Annual International Print Exchange and Annual Letterpress Fundraising Calendar are our two largest projects, but we also incorporate collaborative projects throughout the year, including our popular Downtown Huntsville Ink event, where we print t-shirts directly from the decorative manhole covers in downtown Huntsville.
