Get ready for some modern soul! Tangled String Studios is excited to present the mesmerizing Kelvin Wooten in concert. Wooten is performing with some special, surprise guests to celebrate the official release of his latest EP. His unique style can best be described as Earth, Wind & Fire meets the Doobie Brothers meets Daft Punk. Opening for Kelvin Wooten is Huntsville’s own Victoria Jones.
You’ve heard Kelvin Wooten, whether you know it or not. The young, dynamic multi-instrumentalist has played, written, arranged, and produced for some of the biggest names in music: Earth, Wind & Fire, Mary J. Blige, Al Green, The Bee Gees, Anthony Hamilton, and TLC to name a few.
Born in Georgia and raised in Alabama, Wooten has spent much of the past few years in recording studios on the West Coast, often working with Raphael Saadiq and Anthony Hamilton on their productions. When not in the studio or on the road, Wooten works out of his studio, WoodaWorx, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Grammy Award-winner Anthony Hamilton refers to Wooten as his “musical soul mate”. Wooten’s contribution to his album led to a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. Wooten co-wrote and produced “Freedom” which is in Quentin Tarantino’s film Django Unchained and on the soundtrack. In 2011, Kelvin’s production on the Jill Scott & Anthony Hamilton duet “So In Love” made history. The single remained #1 on the Urban Adult Contemporary chart for 18 weeks straight.
