Amanda Banks: Mixed Media, Studio 257
Amanda Banks creates upcycled artwork made out of paper and pop culture. Using comic books, magazines, and books covers, she creates one-of-a-kind usable and wearable objects. In her studio you can find wallets, headbands, curtains, bow-ties, accessories, and more. Amanda had been stitching and knitting for years when she discovered a handmade envelope while on vacation. Inspired by the beauty of the object, and with no way of knowing where to find more like it, she decided to start working with paper herself. She works with a range of images, from colorful superheroes to centerfold models.
Check out her handcrafted paper products in Studio 257 in the Flying Monkey Arts on the second floor of Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment.
