The Film Co-op, Studio 251
For more than 30 years, the Alabama Filmmaker’s Co-op has served north Alabama’s cinephiles and cinematographers alike with independent movie screenings, film and video-making workshops, and countless educational events. Founded in 1976 by a small and passionate group of film-lovers, Film Co-op has inspired and facilitated the creative visions of hundreds of local auteurs both young and old by providing screening space, production equipment, professional assistance, education, and networking opportunities to artists at every skill level.
From his second floor studio in Flying Monkey Arts, Workshop Director Don Tingle continues to carry out the Co-op’s original vision to this day. Every month the Co-op hosts a free meeting for artists to share and critique work, and the Rocket City Film Festival is Huntsville’s premier opportunity for both aspiring and experienced creators to debut their work on the big screen with the opportunity of winning awards and cash prizes.
If you have ever entertained the idea of committing your moving vision to celluloid, videotape, or digital media, The Film Co-op is the perfect place to begin your journey. Don’t hesitate to visit Don Tingle to learn more in Studio 251 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment!Email
