Vertical House Records
Huntsville, Alabama has many things to be proud of, but when it comes to bragging rights one of the coolest local gems we have is Vertical House Records. Starting in a space not much bigger than some people’s walk-in closets, husband and wife team Andy and Ashley Vaughn have successfully expanded their shop for new and used records into one of the biggest independent music stores in the southeast. Vertical House has grown more than just its footprint over the years though – This local record store has, like so many record stores in the days before corporate music retailers, become a social and cultural hub for north Alabama. Not only does Vertical House welcome music lovers to hang out and discuss their favorite vinyl obscurities with fellow aficionados, they also host live punk, indie rock, and hip-hop shows featuring bands from all over the globe.

In an age when independent family businesses are becoming more and more rare and music stores are nearly extinct, it’s a wonderful privilege to have a place like Vertical House thrive in our own small city. Come dig through some vinyl soon at their studio, RR 3 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment!

Vertical House Records is a husband and wife owned and operated record shop in Rocket City, USA (Huntsville, AL). We carry new and used LPs, CDs, VHS, turntables, and stereo equipment. Our doors opened in 2007 on the second floor of Lowe Mill. After several “upgrades” in spaces, we have settled down in Railroad Room #3 (located off the south side of the back dock at Lowe Mill). Currently we have over 20,000 new and pre-loved records awaiting for your fingers to flip through them.

Along with slinging wax, we also host shows! We are lucky enough to have some of our favorite bands, including: Nobunny, Ty Segall, Strange Boys, Natural Child, Bad Sports, Sugar Stems, Jaill, Shannon & The Clams, Davila 666, Juiceboxxx, and more. Keep an eye out for upcoming show announcements.
